Education & Outreach

Public Education & Outreach
Triangle Foundation provides diversity trainings on social and political LGBT issues. There are representatives from Triangle who train community groups, government agencies, colleges and corporations. These facilitations help members of the LGBT community to come out to their families, co-workers, and community members. This program also educates politicians, doctors, lawyers, teachers, and law enforcement professionals about issues related to the LGBT community and the importance of their roles as inclusive and accepting members of society. Several staff members also maintain blogs to pass along news, commentary and educational information on the LGBT community.

Community Organizing
Triangle Foundation organizes the community to respond to acts of violence occurring throughout the state of Michigan.  If a bias crime is committed and police response is slow or absent, the Triangle Foundation raises its voice to demand a thorough investigation.   We call on the police to pursue cases until they are solved.  We organize the community to speak out against prejudice and bigotry, insisting on equal rights for the LGBT community.

Professional Training
Triangle Foundation wants to raise awareness of the realities of violence against and within the LGBT and HIV-affected communities.  A major part of our work is training the police, law enforcement officials, domestic violence shelters and agencies, hospitals, mental health agencies, and community centers about the needs of LGBT and HIV-affected victims of violence.

Public Speaking
Public speaking and oration are sometimes considered some of the most importantly valued skills that an individual can possess. At Triangle Foundation, when we speak with the public we are not only trying to convey information, but a greater message.  Triangle Staff have spoken in front of small groups, large lecture halls, and news cameras to help people understand the severity of hate that exists and the need for support. Our staff is a group of great speakers who have a natural ability to display the skills and effectiveness that can help to engage and move an audience for whatever purpose.
