Community events are
times and places create safe spaces for the LGBT community where we can
be as out as we want with individuals who know what it is to be a part
of a marginalized community. These events exist to bring our community
together and build it up. They serve as opportunities for questioning
individuals to find answers, for the community to gather in pride and
safety, and for our capacity for change to be nurtured and grow.
Our
community events are our means of gathering human beings who share the
idea that we are all equal in this unequal world. Not only are these
events fundamental for our community, they are a necessity for our
organization. It is through these events that we raise awareness for
our issues, for the hate crimes that occur in our state, and for the
necessity for the community so support our efforts, financially and
otherwise. All of our work at Triangle Foundation is donor supported
and with every dollar raised, so too are our hopes for a better
Michigan.
Triangle Foundation has five major events and several
smaller events of which we either organize or contribute to in some
form. Below is a list of our five major events.
For any questions regarding our community events or how you can help to make them the best they be for all of us, please contact our Department of Community Events at (313) 537-7000 x.103
There are LGBT events in Michigan that we all anticipate every year as places where we can see old friends, make new ones, and be LGBT without fear or prejudice. The Department of Community Events at Triangle Foundation works on these events daily to make them not only safe and fun, but inclusive, accessible, and of interest to all the members of our community. We work to improve these existing events and to create new events so that our community can be out in diverse places around the state and we can bring in new LGBT and allied people into our circle of friends.
