Internships

As an intern, you will be an integral part of Michigan’s largest, most dynamic LGBT advocacy organization. You won’t be getting coffee or doing filing – Triangle Foundation interns work with the media, lobby elected officials, provide services for victims of hate, research the opposition, and other essential tasks to making a better Michigan. While you help our communities, you’ll be learning real-world tasks and making connections with individuals around the state and country that will help you in your future career. In addition, our interns participate in staff meetings where their voices are heard and their opinions valued.

The educational institution sponsoring the student will be responsible for setting the number of credits for the internship and whether or not the intern may receive monetary compensation for their work. Each intern will have a supervisor who will be responsible for providing evaluations for each intern and project.  Due to the sensitive nature of much of our work, interns may be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
The educational institution from which the student is from should be responsible for setting the number of credits for the internship and whether or not the intern may receive monetary compensation for their work.  Each intern will have a supervisor who will be responsible for providing evaluations for each intern and project. Interns are expected to meet the requirements of the educational institutions from which they are attending. Interns may also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement, due to sensitive and important information at the Triangle Foundation. If an intern is coming from a considerable distance, they are responsible for their own housing, living expenses, and any other costs.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
As an intern, you will gain experience working for Michigan’s most dynamic LGBT rights organization, where you will learn a broad range of skills. These skills include: working with the media, lobbying elected officials, victim assistance and advocacy, combating the religious-right, opposition research, event and issue organizing, and fundraising among other exciting activities. Interns will participate in staff meetings thus ensuring their voices are heard and their opinions are valued.

HOW TO APPLY?

Please submit a cover letter stating the approximate dates you are available and the estimated time per week. Also include information about why you would like to work as a Triangle Foundation intern, and what you hope to gain with a Triangle Foundation internship and what you think you can contribute to the Triangle Foundation through your work as an intern
