Now that you’ve agreed to join us, take the following steps to make appointments to meet with your State Senator:

1. Write a letter, send an email, or call your state Senator’s office. Don't know who to contact? If you know your zip code + 4 scroll to bottom right of this page and fill in the form or visit the Michigan Senator Website. You may also call the State House Clerk’s office at 517-373-0135 and the Secretary of the Senate’s office at 517-373-2400.

2. If you set up your meeting via postal or email include the following information: the date you would like to meet (March 26) and the topic you want to address – Matt’s Safe Schools Law. Be sure to mention that this law would create a statewide anti-bullying policy for Michigan’s schools.

3. If you set up your meeting by phone include the date, time and reason for your visit when you speak with your Senator’s staff.

NOTE: The meeting is the most important part of the day, not the lobby day program. If you can get a meeting between 10:00 a.m. and Noon or between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. that would be best, but take any meeting time you are given. If you are unable to make the pre-lobby training, contact Triangle's Director of Policy Sean Kosofsky: 313-537-7000 x 105 and we will provide you with the necessary materials via email (preferable) or postal mail (if necessary).

4. Request that a confirmation of your meeting be sent to you via email or postal mail. The day before the lobby day, re-confirm your meeting with the legislative staff.

5. If you haven’t yet done so, be sure to register with Triangle online or by calling 313-537-7000 x 105.
