Henry Messer, MD, Dearborn Heights
Dr. Messer, a founder of Triangle Foundation, resides in Dearborn Heights and is a retired Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Messer was a member of the Mattachine Society (a pioneer gay rights group) in the early 1960's. He contributed a chapter entitled "The Homosexual Physician" to a medical student textbook. He has been profiled in the New York Times, and he has been the recipient of numerous civil rights awards. He and Carl House have been together 50 years.
