Kevin McAlpine, Development Director, joined the Triangle Foundation in September 1998. His responsibilities include creating and implementing a fundraising plan to sustain the finances of the foundation which includes donor relations, direct mail, newsletters, special events and grant writing.
Under his leadership, in 2001, he produced the Michigan Lesbian & Gay ComedyFest and the Metro Detroit PrideFest with record crowds each year. In 2003, he created Reel Pride Michigan - Michigan's GLBT Film Festival. Since then, it has become one of the largest film festivals in the state attracting crowds from across the Midwest and Canada. In addition, Triangle Foundation's Annual Dinner Event continues to grow as an incredible evening of entertainment and activism. These entertainment events provide a opportunity to raise issues pertinent to and speak to GLBT and allied audiences in order to educate and empower those communities in Michigan.
Kevin has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Oakland University and is pursuing a Master's Degree.
In 1987, Kevin completed a paramedic certificate program at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. He is also a state certified instructor/coordinator for EMS programs. Since graduating high school, Kevin has worked full-time as a paramedic, has taught numerous EMS and paramedic programs across the state, and was the manager of an ambulance service in Macomb County for many years.
Kevin recently retired from Michigan DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team), a division of FEMA, which responds to national and global disasters. In 1994, he responded to Los Angeles to assist victims of the earthquake disaster.
In November 1997, Kevin was elected to the City Council in Richmond, Michigan for a two-year term as an openly gay elected official.
He currently resides in Warren with his partner Fred who is instrumental in assisting with the many events that Triangle produces.
